  1. ÔN TẬP 12 TỪ TUẦN 20 -24 Unit 10 lớp 12: Endangered Species A. Lý thuyết Ôn tập động từ khuyết thiếu: 1. May/might - may / might diễn tả sự xin phép, cho phép. Ví dụ: May I take this book? – Yes, you may. She asked if she might go to the party. - may/might dùng diễn tả một khả năng có thể xảy ra hay không thể xảy ra ở hiện tại hoặc tương lai . Ví dụ: It may rain. He admitted that the news might be true. - Dùng trong câu cảm thán may/might diễn tả một lời cầu chúc. Ví dụ: May all your dreams come true! - may/might dùng trong mệnh đề theo sau các động từ “hope” (hy vọng) và “trust” (tin tưởng). Ví dụ: I trust (hope) that you may find this plan to your satisfaction. He trust (hope) that we might find the plan to our satisfaction. - may/might dùng thay cho một mệnh đề trạng ngữ chỉ sự nhượng bộ (adverb clauses of concession). Ví dụ: He may be poor, but he is honest. Try as he may, he will not pass the examination. Try as he might, he could not pass the examination. - may/might thường được dùng trong mệnh đề trạng ngữ chỉ mục đích (adverb clauses of purpose). Trong trường hợp này người ta cũng thường dùng can/could để thay cho may/might. Ví dụ: She was studying so that she might read English books. - might (không dùng may) đôi khi được dùng trong câu để diễn tả một lời trách mắng có tính hờn dỗi. Ví dụ: You might listen when I am talking to you. You might try to be a little more helpful. May/ might + be + V-ing : diễn đạt điều gì dó có thể đang diễn ra . Ví dụ: That man may/ might be watching us ( = Perhap he is watching us ) May/ might + have + V3/ ed : diễn đạt điều gì dó có thể đã xảy ra trong quá khứ Ví dụ : Polly’s very late. She may have been missed her train. (= It is possible that she missed her train . Might + have + V3/ ed : nói về điều gì đó đã có thể xảy ra nhưng không xảy ra Ví dụ: You were stupid to try climbing up there . You might have killed yourself. 2. Must, mustn’t
  2. - must là một động từ khuyết thiếu và chỉ có hình thức hiện tại. - must có nghĩa là “phải” diễn tả một mệnh lệnh hay một sự bắt buộc. Ví dụ: You must get up earily in the morning. - must đưa ra lời khuyên hoặc suy luận mang tính chắc chắn, yêu cầu được nhấn mạnh Ví dụ: You must be hungry after work hard. - must not/mustn’t diễn tả sự cấm đoán. Ví dụ: You mustn’t walk on the grass. - Khi muốn diễn tả thể phủ định của must với ý nghĩa “không cần thiết” người ta sử dụng need not/ needn’t. Ví dụ: Must I do it now? – No, you needn’t. Must / can’t : Chúng ta cũng dùng “must : chắc hẳn là / can’t: chắc là không ” để suy đoán tình huống trong hiện tại hoặc trong quá khứ ( can’t : được dùng như là dạng phủ định của must ) Must be/ do, can’t be/ do : suy đoán trong hiện tại Ví dụ : Roger hasn’t come yet. He must be stuck in the traffic (= I’m sure that he is stuck in the traffic ) Must / can’t + have + V3/ed: suy đoán tình huống trong quá khứ Ví dụ : We went to Rome last summer. It must have been nice (= I’m sure that it was nice ) 3. Should / ought to Should / ought to / had better: khuyê ai nên làm gì hoặc cho ý kiến Ví dụ: I think you should cut down on smoking Shouldn’t/ oughtn’t to / had better not : khuyên ai không nên làm gì Should / ought to + have + V3/ed: dùng nói về hành động hoặc tình huống trong quá khứ với nghĩa : “đáng lẽ phải ” Ví dụ : You should have done it more carefully.(= You didn’t do it carefully. I think it was wrong of you ) 4. Need / Needn’t : cần hoặc không cần làm gì ( chỉ dùng trong câu phủ định và câu hỏi mới được xem là động từ khiếm khuyết ) Ví dụ : Need I bring anything with me ? You needn’t do it ì you don’t want to Needn’t + have + V3/ed: diễn tả việc đáng lẽ không cần phải làm trong quá khứ B.
