Mệnh lệnh là câu có tính chất sai khiến, được dùng khi chúng ta muốn yêu cầu, ra lệnh, hướng dẫn hay gợi ý cho người khác làm một việc gì đó. Được hình thành bắt đầu bằng một động từ nguyên thể không có “to”. Eg : Sit down! 1.2. Imperatives with more /less. Khi muốn yêu cầu ai đó làm gì nhiều hơn hoặc ít hơn ta them more /less say động từ Eg : Sleep less! Relax more! Để nội dung mệnh lệnh cách cụ thể hơn ta có thể them danh từ phía sau more/ less More /less+ N Eg : Read more books ( more + danh từ đếm được / không đếm được ) Drink less beer and wine ( less+ danh từ không đếm được ) 1.3. Một số cách dung phổ biến của mệnh lệnh cách với more / less: + ra lệnh trực tiếp. Eg: Play less! + hướng dẫn. Eg: Please provide more details in this form. + gợi ý. Eg: Wear more clothes and you will be better. 2. Compound sentences. A compound sentence has at least two independent clauses that have related ideas. The independent clauses can be joined by a coordinating conjunction (there are seven–for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so) or a semicolon. 2.1. Compound Sentences with Coordinating Conjunctions She did not cheat on the test, for it was not the right thing to do. I think I will buy the red car, or I will lease the blue one. I really want to go to work, but I am too sick to drive. I am counting my calories, yet I really want dessert. He ran out of money, so he had to stop playing poker. They got there early, and they got really good seats. There was no ice cream in the freezer, nor did they have money to go to the store. 2.2. Compound Sentences with a Semicolon Joe made the sugar cookies; Susan decorated them. The sky is clear; the stars are twinkling. The waves were crashing on the shore; it was a lovely sight.
